On Wednesday 18^th and Thursday 19^th March, the 6^th International Thialf Record Races were organized in Thialf, Heerenveen, The Netherlands. In this event, all kind of races are possible to skate, from Single Distances, Sprint to Allround.

And what an amazing end to the season it was: with 112 participants from 13 countries (BEL, EST, FIN, GER, ITA, NED, NOR, ROU, SLO, SUI, SWE, UKR and USA) , there were skated at least 61 PR’s, 189 SB’s, 2 NR’s and 10 IMSSC World Records!

Ten IMSSC World Records

In total, no fewer than ten IMSSC World Records were broken. On the first day of the TRR2026, already 4 IMSSC World Records were broken:

1. With a time of 8.03,72 on the 5.000m Imme Kampen (NED) skated a new World Record in the L45! The time was 8.17,96 from Jolanda Voskamp-Vollebregt, skated in 2012 in Heerenveen.
2. In the M80 Kees Verdouw (NED) broke his own World Record, which stood since 2024 on 5.31,33, to a new time of 5.26,11.
3. Arjan Elferink (NED) broke the record in the M50 on the 3.000m. This time had been held by Arjan Bakker since 2013 with a time of 4.04,59.
4. And Ciska Stark broke the World Record in the L60 on the 10.000 meter, which was since 2025 held on her own name with a time of 18.13,48. Now, she set a time of 18.00,87!

And on day 2, another 3 IMSSC World Records were broken:

5. Darja Ptitsönai (EST) skated in the L35 a new record on the 5.000 meter. The old record was since 2020 held by Eva Riemersma (NED) with a time of 8.01,67. Darja set the new record at 7.45,95!
6. Imme Kampen (NED) broke the record on the 10.000 meter in the age group L45. This record, with a time of 17:16.81, had been held by Ans Oudejans since 2007. Imme set the new record at 16.59,18.
7. Also Ole Bjørnsmoen Næs (NOR) brok the record on the 10.000 meter. In his age group M35, the record of 14.09,83 had been held by Otto van der Pol since 2020. Ole set the new record on 13.58,75.

And next to that there were broken 3 IMSSC World Records in points:

8. Darja Ptitsöna (EST) set a new record in points on the Allround Normal in the L35. This record was held by Suzanne Mulder (NED) with 189.131 (2022).
9. Also Kees Verdouw (NED) set a new record in points on the Allround Normal. He broke the points record in the M80 from the Norwegian Arne Kjell Foldvik, who set this record in 2016 at 223.510.
10. Imme Kampen (NED) set a new record points on the Allround Big in the L45. This was held by Anja Neumann (GER) since 2020 with 227.766. The new points record is now 191.854.

National records

Next to that also Klas Berlič Fras (SLO) set a new national record on the 500m. The record was since last season on 54,50. Now he set the new record on 53,94. And also Kathleen Toth (SUI) set a new national record. She set a new national record points on the Allround Big: 244.221.

A lot of happy skaters who had the possibility to skate a long distance or combination on very good ice of Thialf and surrounded by many skating friends.
