Bestel nu je Masters Nederland kleding!

Sinds enkele jaren hebben we een schitterende kledinglijn voor de Nederlandse Masters schaatsers.

Tot 27 oktober kun je deze kleding weer bestellen! En let op: het thermojack is voor leden met een fantastische korting te bestellen: in plaats van 75 euro betaal je slechts 40 euro. Het bestuur van MCLN wil hiermee stimuleren dat zoveel mogelijk masters in het Nederlandse jack rijden! Zéker bij de internationale toernooien.

Hoe bestellen?
Tot 27 oktober kun je de kleding bestellen. Hier vind je het bestelformulier. Vul alle gegevens goed in en stuur het formulier daarna naar info@schaatscircuit.nl. Na ontvangst sturen wij je een mail ter bevestiging incl. het verzoek om het bijbehorende bedrag over te maken.

Let op:
De prijzen zijn gebaseerd op een minimale totaalafname van 5 stuks per artikel (het Powerstretch wedstrijdpak uitgezonderd) en excl. verzendkosten. Mochten er minder dan 5 stuks van een product zijn besteld, komt er een toeslag van 25%. Mocht dit het geval zijn, dan informeren we je eerst voordat we de bestelling in gang zetten.

In memoriam Joop Eijpe

Gisteravond bereikte ons het bericht dat een van onze meest gedreven masters, Joop Eijpe, op 72-jarige leeftijd is overleden.

Als er iemand passie voor schaatsen had, dan was het Joop wel. Ondanks veel strubbelingen met zijn gezondheid de laatste jaren, knokte hij zich steeds weer terug en zagen we hem weer op het ijs. Tot en met het seizoen 2017-2018 was Joop dan ook een van de trouwste deelnemers aan de wedstrijden van Schaatscircuit.nl. En vooral zijn deelname aan internationale masterswedstrijden was groot. Vorig seizoen reed Joop geen wedstrijden, maar afgelopen zomer was hij nog wel op het ijs van Thialf aan het genieten.

Want genieten, dat deed Joop. Samen met zijn vrouw Ineke, die er altijd bij was en zijn rondjes op het ijs altijd vanaf de tribune volgde. Wat genoot hij als hij na een moeizame periode weer een wedstrijd kon rijden. Op 14 maart 2018 reed hij zijn laatste wedstrijd, te weten de “10th Masters’ International Sprint” in Heerenveen.

Het was de laatste keer dat hij een tijd neerzette. Afgelopen week werd zijn ziekte hem fataal. Ditmaal kon Joop het gevecht om zijn gezondheid terug te krijgen niet meer winnen. Op woensdag 2 oktober overleed hij.
Joop, we zullen je missen. Jouw passie, jouw enthousiasme, jouw stralende ogen als je weer op het ijs kon staan. Rust zacht, Joop!

Wij wensen Ineke en de familie en vrienden van Joop heel veel sterkte toe bij het verwerken van dit verlies.

In memoriam Jaap Bitter

Op 87-jarige leeftijd is afgelopen 1 augustus onze schaatsvriend Jaap Bitter overleden. De laatste maanden verbleef hij in een verpleeghuis en ging zijn gezondheid hard achteruit.

Jaap was jarenlang een fervent master in het circuit met mooie prestaties tot op zeer hoge leeftijd. Alhoewel hij op 9 februari 2013 zijn laatste masters-wedstrijd (NK in Deventer) reed, zullen vele masters Jaap nog kennen.

In 1986 en 1997 reed Jaap twee Friese Elfstedentochten. Frans Rietveld was degene die Jaap in 1997 vroeg mee te doen aan een ‘veteranenwedstrijd’ in Italië. Nadien reisden Frans en Jaap door heel Europa. Naast diverse Nederlandse titels wist Jaap twee wereldtitels in de wacht te slepen bij de masters: Alkmaar (2003) en Calgary (2007).

En nog altijd staan er twee wereldrecords op Jaap zijn naam:

• Op de 500m bij de M75 heeft hij op 23 februari 2007 in Calgary het record gezet op 47.37. Dat dit een uiterst snelle tijd is, blijkt wel uit het feit dat dit record al 12 jaar staat!
• En ook het wereldrecord punten over de kleine vierkamp bij de M75 staat sinds dat weekend nog steeds op zijn naam: sinds 25 februari 2007 staat het puntentotaal kleine vierkamp (500/1500/1000/3000) in deze categorie op 195.101.

Afgelopen winter schaatste Jaap nog altijd wekelijks op de Uithof in Den Haag en trainde hij bij STV Lekstreek nog trouw mee. Zijn techniek was nog altijd van niveau.
De foto op de rouwkaart is van januari 2017. Deze stond toen in de regionale editie van het AD met de tekst: “De ijsbaan van IJsclub Vooruitgang in Ammerstol opende vanochtend om 09.00 uur haar poorten. De 84-jarige Jaap Bitter uit Lekkerkerk was als één van de eersten op het ijs om zijn rondjes op het flinterdunne ijs te rijden.” (foto: Stephan Tellier).

Jaap was niet alleen een formidabele schaatser, hij was ook een hele fijne schaatscollega. Een rustige, aardige man met geweldig veel passie voor het schaatsen en sporten. Tot het laatste moment heeft hij van zijn sport kunnen genieten.

Wedstrijdkalender Masters seizoen 2019/2020 krijgt vorm

De internationale wedstrijdkalender voor de Masters in het wedstrijdseizoen 2019/2020 begint steeds meer vorm te krijgen. Ook de datum en locatie voor het NK Masters Allround en Afstanden (Utrecht op 15 en 16 februari 2020) is bekend. En past precies tussen alle andere grote internationale Masterswedstrijden.

Zoals de International Masters Sprint Classics in Inzell, de International Master Cup in Berlijn, de Masters’ Allround Games (MAG) in Collalbo en de Masters’ Sprint Games (MSG) in Calgary. En natuurlijk de Winter World Masters Games (WWMG) in Innsbruck, de door het IOC erkende Olympische Spelen voor Masters.

Verder vindt er in Nederland voor de vierde maal de Dutch Masters Cup plaats (Enschede, Heerenveen en Leeuwarden). En kan er een na week de MSG2020 in Calgary in Salt Lake City deelgenomen worden aan de USA Master’s Open Single Distance Championships. Er kan dus volop gepland worden en het reisschema kan in elkaar gezet worden.

De data voor de Dutch Master Cup, ideaal om snelle tijden te rijden en je zo bijvoorbeeld te kunnen kwalificeren voor het NK Masters, volgen nog. Voor de MAG2020 in Collalbo en MSG2020 in Calgary zijn er dit jaar geen quota voor het aantal deelnemers. De enige voorwaarde is dat je aan de limiet voor jouw categorie voldoet.

Inschrijven voor Winter World Masters Games (WWMG)
De inschrijving voor het onderdeel ‘Speed skating’ van de WWMG is al enige tijd geopend en veel masters hebben zich al aangemeld voor de Olympische Spelen voor Masters. Het duurt nog 6 maanden en 22 dagen voordat het evenement van start gaat, maar de inschrijvingen op sommige onderdelen loopt al hard. Zo is het onderdeel ‘Biathlon’ al volgeboekt. Wil je zeker zijn van deelname, meld je dan alvast nu aan.

MSG2019 in Leeuwarden: fast times and big party

The Masters’ International Sprint Games 2019, which were organized in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands, on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10 March, went very successful. The atmosphere was super and the ice was perfect. So there were skated fast times, with 291 SB’s, 50 PB’s and even 5(!) IMSSC world records!

With 219 participants, the competition was well occupied: 14 countries, 57 women in the age groups 30 to 70 and 162 men in the age groups 30 to 90.

World records for Kanneworff and Marumo
In the age group L35 Mijke Anne Kanneworff from the Netherlands skated 3 world records! First day she skated 41.88 on the 500 meter. With this time she improved the record, which since 2010 was held of the Norwegian Nina Tørset in a time of 42.29 in Salt Lake City (USA). The second day Mijke improved her own new personal and world record again in an awesome time of 41.29! Her third world record was the total of sprint points of 169.530. This was only 5/1000 better than the existing record of 169,535, skated by Renske Winters (NED) in 2013 in Salt Lake City. It’s great that records from Salt Lake City can be broken in the Elfstedenhal in Leeuwarden!
In the M90 age group we would have two participants. Unfortunately the American Joseph Kello had to cancel his participation on the latest moment because of an injury. So only the Japanese Iichi Marumo had a chance to become world champion and to skate world records in the age group M90. On the first day, Iichi skated the first official time in the age group M90 ever in a time of 1.34.47, so that was his first world record. On the 1000m he unfortunately was disqualified by a wrong changing of lanes. After this it was not possible anymore for the Japanese to become world champion MSG2019 in M90. On the second day however, he skated – including a fall – his second world record in a time of 4.13.50.

Gratulations to Mijke Anne Kanneworff and Iichi Marumo ánd the ice masters with these world records!

Wonderful atmosphere
The super atmosphere was not only caused by the good times which were skated by many skaters and a lot of exciting races, but also by the social welcome ceremony with our Holland Market and magnificent demonstration of the wooden skate short trackers and our (house) brass band “Dik d’r Neffe”, who played both days during the ice preparation and made the event to a big party.

The starters and referees were firm but fair. They really liked it to work at this masters event and helped to succeed the MSG2019 in a successful event. One of the referees gave her feedback on Facebook:
“Back home after a fantastic weekend in Leeuwarden at the Master Sprint Games. It was great to take part in this event. On behalf of the Starters and Referees I want to thank the organizing committee, who made it very easy for us to do our job. We saw great races of all competitors. Who wasn’t touched by the performance of Mr. Marumo with his world record on the 500 meter, or the joy of the ladies 60+ after they completed their competition. It looked like carnaval on the infield. All these things created a wonderful atmosphere in the stadium. We loved every minute of it. Thank you so much.”
